THE PROVINCE OF PADUA READY TO WELCOM GREAT CYCLING

There is no Veneto without cycling, but there is also no cycling without Veneto. For a couple of years now, the month of October has become the highlight for cycling enthusiasts in Veneto, who after a few years of absence have been able to embrace the best professionals in the world on their territory. All thanks to the initiative carried out by PP Sport Events, the company created by the former professional Filippo Pozzato who, with the support of the Veneto Region, has given life to the Ride the Dreamland project, with four events between 12 and 16 October that involve practically the entire regional territory.

The province of Padua has obviously not remained idle and this year too will be at the center of the initiatives of Pozzato and his team, in particular with regard to the Giro del Veneto, which will take place on Wednesday 12 October, and the innovative Serenissima Gravel, which was so popular last year and will be proposed on Friday 14 October.
In particular, the area of the Terme e Colli Euganei tourist destination will be the headquarters where athletes, teams and workers will be welcomed in the hotels of the area, in a sort of operations center of the two professional races. Thanks to the contribution made by local businesses and the municipalities of Abano Terme, Teolo, Rovolon and Torreglia, through whose territories the athletes engaged in the race will pass at full speed, Ride the Dreamland will be the opportunity to embrace great professional cycling once again. The organizational experience and support made available for the entire setup by the historic Società Ciclisti Padovani, with its President Galdino Peruzzo and his collaborators Alberto Ongarato and Martino Scarso, will be fundamental.

The 85th edition of the Giro del Veneto will start from Prato della Valle, and then head towards Abano Terme and the Euganean Hills, an area that belongs to the tradition of this race. The route will pass through Torreglia, Rovolon, Teolo and, after the first 60 kilometers, it will enter the province of Vicenza. A few flat kilometers through Bosco and Nanto, then in Barbarano it goes up the Berici Hills, to meet the climbs of Ca’ Lerna, Bocca d’Ansiesa and Perarolo da Brendola, with the grand finale placed in Via Roma, a stone’s throw from the historic center of Vicenza.
The Serenissima Gravel instead will start from the Po Delta Park, in the province of Rovigo and via dirt roads along the banks of the Adige, first, and Brenta, then it will continue through the provinces of Venice and Padua. The stage of the grand finale will be the splendid Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta.

“Cycling represents an extraordinary promotional flywheel for our territory – declare Federico Barbierato (Mayor of Abano Terme), Valentino Turetta (Mayor of Teolo), Ermanno Magagnin (Mayor of Rovolon) and Marco Rigato (Mayor of Torreglia) -. Thanks to the presence of top-quality accommodation facilities and enchanting routes for cycling enthusiasts, our territory undoubtedly represents true excellence. We are proud to be able to welcome the best professional cyclists in the world thanks to the Ride the Dreamland project and to be able to give visibility beyond national borders to our communities”.
“The availability and enthusiasm shown by the municipalities of Abano Terme, Teolo, Rovolon and Torreglia for the Ride the Dreamland project have been truly remarkable and we owe them a huge thank you – explains the organizer and founder of PP Sport Events, Filippo Pozzato -. With our events we want to ensure that cycling becomes an excellent vehicle for territorial promotion, therefore going beyond the simple concept of professional races. We are available to the territory and I am happy that many municipalities believe in what we are doing; I am sure it will be a great success”.
